Commerce bench in Pokhara High Court

Pokhara, September 18

Pokhara High Court is all set to begin a commerce bench within a month or two in Kaski.

People of the region had to rush to Butwal for bank fraud related cases as such cases could not be settled in the court for want of a commerce bench.

Pokhara High Court Chief Judge Kumar Chudal said on Monday that the Supreme Court was preparing for the same.

Nahakul Subedi, chief registrar of the SC, said the apex court was preparing to set up commerce benches in Province 2 and 4. The government had set up commerce benches in Biratnagar, Patan, Butwal and Nepalgunj High Court nine years ago while a commerce bench was set up in Hetauda seven years ago. There are five commerce benches across the country, but Provinces 2 and 4 do not have such bench.

Chief Judge Chudal said each activity of the court would be transparent. “Those cases related to civic and public concerns will be in the court’s priority list,” he said.

Pokhara High Court was declared the best court among the high courts last year.
