Communists will rule country for 50 years, says Dahal

Jhapa, September 14

Nepal Communist Party Co-chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal today claimed that the communist government would rule the country for 50 years to come.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Gaurishankar Khadka Memorial Foundation at Birtamode of Jhapa district, Dahal accused some regressive forces of trying to spread rumour against the Maoist movement and the Nepal Communist Party (NCP)-led government, among people. “Nepali people want the communists to rule the country for 50 more years,” he said.

Dahal said leaders of the communist party had established federal democratic republic in the country. “Nepali people have given the onus to NCP to take the country into an era of peace and prosperity,” Dahal added.

Dahal stressed the need to end factionalism inside the party. “I am committed to end factionalism and strengthen the party,” he said.

Dahal urged NCP leaders and cadres to work in accordance with the party’s policy. He argued that deviation from Marxism had made the party leaders and cadres selfish.

Dahal said delay in party unification and factionalism in the party had distanced the party from the people.

“Constitution was promulgated by Rana rulers and Shah rulers, in the past. But, the present constitution is written by representatives elected by the people. So, we have the best constitution now,” said NCP leader Subash Nembang. He also said no one could seize the rights guaranteed to the people by the constitution.
