BUTWAL: The Gautam Buddha Community Heart and Kidney Hospital in Butwal has been providing kidney test service for only one rupee since August 21. Keeping in mind the patients need, the community-based hospital has been providing the service for only one rupee.

The patients from the surrounding areas have been benefited from the service, according to the Medical Superintendent Dr. Samir Gautam.  Dr.Shakti Basnet Consultant Urologist informed that 30 to 40 patients are receiving the service every day.

Patients are relieved as they do not have to travel to Kathmandu and Gorakhpur for the service. The hospital statistics shows that more than 211 people have already received the service.

According to Dr Basnet, out of 211 people who received the service so far, 10% were found with kidney related ailments. Most of them were in last stage and had to undergo dialysis.

The kidney treatment centre at the hospital was established with an investment of RS. 1.5 million,Ejaj Alam, Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee informed. The hospital is preparing to establish sophisticated Cath Lab in the near future, he added.
