Constitution amendment bill soon, PM Dahal tells Thakur

KATHMANDU: The government has been making preparations to register a proposal on the amendment of Constitution at the Legislature-Parliament based on the consensus of major political parties, within few days.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who is holding consultations for the Constitution amendment, on Friday, told the chairman of the Tarai-Madhes Loktantrik Party, Mahantha Thakur, the government was making preparation to register the constitution amendment proposal soon.

The government made preparations on the basis of discussion among three major political parties held at the Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar on Friday.

Chairman Thakur told the Rastriya Samachar Samiti, during the meeting with the Prime Minister today,  he found the government was ready to address the demands of Madhesi parties.

"The Prime Minister has assured to register the amendment proposal within few days," he said.

The Madhes-centric parties, which have been protesting some provisions in the Constitution, drew the government's attention towards addressing their demands.
