Constitution amendment after all-side consensus: Leader Nepal

LAHAN: CPN-UML leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the new Constitution should be amended on the basis of an all-side consensus.

At a news conference organised here Sunday, leader Nepal said although there was information from various sources that the Constitution amendment proposal had been prepared, his party and himself had not received any authorised information in this regard.

He said, "Thousands of millions of rupees have been misused in absence of people's representatives. So there is no alternative to holding local bodies' election immediately."

The former Prime Minister urged the Madhes-centric parties to play a positive role for local bodies' election even in existing structure if the new structure was not acceptable to them.

He said the demand of major posts of constitutional bodies to naturalised citizens was not logical as Nepali people were capable enough to become the head of the nation.
