BIRGUNJ: A worker blacked out and died on the spot while three others were critically injured when a wall collapsed and fell down on them during construction of a drainage system in Birgunj of Parsa district on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Pukar Sahani of Ramauli-4, Rautahat.

Ganesh Sah of Madanpur-1, Upendra Das and Baleshwor Sahani of Ramauli-4 in Rautahat were critically injured in the incident.

Among the injured, Das is being treated at the Birgunj-based National Medical College whereas other two have been sent to the Bir Hospital in Kathmandu for further treatment.

The wall of a house on the construction site, along the way to Thakur Ram Multiple Campus from Birgunj Nagar Sabha Griha had fallen down on the workers.

The construction works were ongoing in Birgunj, under the Secondary Towns Integrated Urban Environmental Improvement Project supported by the Asian Development Bank.
