Counter-argument on trial hearing of 33-kg gold smuggling case begins

BIRATNAGAR: A counter-argument on trial hearing of 33-kilogram gold smuggling and murder of gold carrier Sanam Shakya has begun at the Morang District Court on Monday.

Today, plaintiff lawyers started counter-argument on trial hearing of the case after 56 defendant lawyers defended the accused. The trial hearing continued till the 11th day.

Assistant Attorney Chiranjabi Parajuli, Assistant District Attorney Padam Prasad Wasti, and Rohit Pokharel would answer the defendant lawyers' questions during the count-argument tomorrow.

After the murder of gold carrier Sanam Shakya, the case was filed at Morang District Court on May 2.

Police filed a charge-sheet against 63 persons allegedly involved in smuggling 3,800 kilogram gold and murdering co-conspirator Sanam Shakya. 30 out of 63 have landed in the police net, however, 33 others are at large.

It has been learned that the verdict would be announced by Wednesday.
