Bandh enforcers torch vehicles in Chitwan, Tanahun, Kaski

KATHMANDU: Bandh enforcers have torched vehicles in various parts of the nation including Chitwan, Tanahun, Kaski.

A truck laden with medicines was reportedly set ablaze at Nipani Chok in Ratnanagar Municipality in the wee hours of Monday.

The truck (Na 5 Kha 7432) was heading to Kathmandu from Birgunj when it was targeted by the CPN Maoist cadres at around 1:30 am, said chief of the Chitwan District Police Office, Basanta Bahadur Kunwar.

The consignment of medicines was reduced to ashes in the arson attack.

Only few vehicles with police escort have been plying the roads in Chitwan district today.

Meanwhile, another truck was also set ablaze by an unidentified group in Tanahun.

The truck (Na 4 Kha 391) ferrying cement from Bhairahawa was torched at Aandhikhola of Bandipur Municipality.

Police have detained six CPN Maoist cadres on suspicion of torching the truck.

The same group had also pelted stones at a moving truck (Na 5 Kha 413) shattering its windshield.

Similarly, police have detained two bandh enforcers, Prakash Bastola and Ashok Bhandari, from Naagdhunga area of Pokhara in Kaski district.
