MC candidate claims CM’s post

Phidim: CPN-Maoist Centre’s Indra Bahadur Angbo has laid claim to the post of chief minister of Province 1.

“The left alliance has gained majority in six out of the total seven provinces. Our party should get three chief ministerial posts as per the deal between the alliance partners,” said the CPN-MC leader. Angbo, who is also the party’s central member, had secured victory against democratic alliance candidate Surendra Kumar Dahal of Nepali Congress, with a margin of 4,791 votes from the constituency ‘kha’ of the district.

CPN-UML has won 36 of the total 56 first-past-the-post provincial seats, while CPN-MC clinched 10 state assembly berths.

NC and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal have won 8 and 1 state assembly seats respectively in the district. Also, one independent candidate secured victory in the provincial poll in the district.
