UML for Constitution implementation, not amendment: Khanal

BIRGUNJ: The CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal said that his party was for the Constitution implementation more than its amendment.

Addressing a function organised by the Press Chautari Nepal in Parsa district on Saturday, Khanal claimed that the meaning of Constitution amendment bill came to an end after the United Democratic Madhesi Front's leaders themselves had rejected the proposal.

Khanal further said that the Constitution amendment bill was only the demand of Madhesi leaders, but not of Madhesi people.

The UML senior leader stated that the Constitution had ensured rights of citizens belonging to both hills and plains.

Saying that the Constitution was democratic, patriotic, progressive and socialist, Khanal focused the necessity of unity among the three major parites - Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and CPN Maoist Centre.
