CPN-UML fails to form party departments

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting on Wednesday failed to make nominations in various party departments as scheduled.

The party sources said no any decision could be taken as opposing factions of the party criticised each other for lack of coordination in selecting names for the panels.

The faction led by senior leader and former prime minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has been accusing the party Chairman KP Sharma Oli-led faction of taking decisions unilaterally.

The Standing Committee on Tuesday had set the agendas of formation of party departments and advisory committee for the Wednesday meeting.

Party's Central Secretariat's Secretary Krishna Gopal Shrestha the meeting now was put off till the next notice.

The meeting was postponed indefinitely as the Chairman Oli, also the Prime Minister, was scheduled to leave for Chitwan today, according to Shrestha.

Meanwhile, the meeting reviewed PM Oli's recent visit to China and hailed it as a success.

The party has scheduled its Politburo meeting for April 5-6 and the Central Committee meeting for April 9-12.
