UML leader doubtful if local level elections will take place

PARBAT: CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has expressed his doubt over the conducting of local level elections scheduled for May 14.

During an interaction with party cadres at Kushma Bazaar on Friday, Nepal accused the ruling parties of not being serious towards the elections, adding that there was no proper environment to assure it either.

He added that the demonstration from the Madhes-based parties and slow-paced government were the reasons contributing to his doubts regarding the elections.

Stating that the Constitution amendment proposal was not in the interest of the country, Nepal reiterated the UML's stance to never support it.

Underlining the Constitution's implementation as a prime challenge, Nepal said, "Various forces will raise their heads if the Constitution is not implemented, so all the political forces need to come together to counter this."
