Dhankuta bus accident: Death toll reaches 15

BHOJPUR: Death toll in Dhankuta bus accident has reached 15 after two more succumbed to injuries during the course of treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) on Friday.

The deceased have been identified Tanka Katuwal of Madi-1, Sankhuwasabha and Khagendra Karki of Ankhibhuye-9 of Sankhuwasabha.

Police said that as many as 20 persons were injured in the accident.

The ill-fated bus (Ba 2 Kha 7366) was heading to Dharan from Mudeshanishchare of Sankhuwasabha when it skidded from the road and fell some 200 metres down yesterday.

Kamala Pokharel of Bhirgaun, Dhankuta Municipality-10; Anisha BK Dhankuta Municipality-7; Bishnu Magar of Marekkatahar-8; Binod Ghimire of Parewadin-4; Purna Kumari Limbu of Itahari-5; Manoj Podar of Dharan-2, Ramesh Shrestha of Dharan-16; Nir Maya Gurung of Dharan-13; Tsering Sherpa of Basantapur-4, Tehrathum were injured in the accident.

Identities of others are yet to established.

They are receiving treatment at the BPKIHS.

There were 35 passengers on board the bus when the incident occurred.
