Dharahara replica built in Tanahun

Tanahun, March 2

A hotel entrepreneur has built replica of Dharahara at Bimalnagar of Bandipur Rural Municipality-4, in Tanahun.

Local Lal Bahadur Shrestha, who runs Hotel Helen and Rocky at Bimalnagar, built the nine-storey Dharahara at the cost of one million rupees.

As the real Dharahara built during Rana regime collapsed in 2015 earthquakes, the replica was built using cement, boulder, sand and steel in 45 days. A ladder to climb it also has been built. It is nine-metre tall and two-metre wide.

“I came up with the idea of constructing Dharahara to gain a different identity for Bimalnagar. Though the real Dharahara in Kathmandu collapsed during earthquakes three years ago, this reminds people of the fact that Nepal is the country of Dharahara,” said Shrestha.

As per him, at least 100 to 200 people come to visit the Dharahara daily. “Especially people traveling to or from Kathmandu, Pokhara, Chitwan, Gorkha, Syangja, Parbat, Myagdi come to visit the Dharahara,” said he.
