Janakpurdham, December 18

A seven-year-old differently-abled girl was raped at Ganeshman Charnath Municipality in Dhanusha last night.

Police said Roshan Basnet, 25, of the municipality had raped the minor after luring her with a chocolate. Roshan raped the girl under the influence of alcohol after he called the minor to receive the chocolate at 10:00pm yesterday. The minor’s father is a mental patient while her mother is visually impaired and the victim is mute.

Area Police Office, Dhalkebar Inspector Saroj Rai said the victim’s mother explained to the police that she had informed her neighbours about the incident. Rai said that the victim’s mother further explained that she informed the neighbours after her daughter did not return home for a long time. She added that Basnet called her daughter and took her away from the house at night.

According to the minor’s mother, the girl was found in a pool of blood in a sugarcane field. Inspector Rai said the accused Basnet was arrested from the spot. The victim is undergoing treatment and her condition is critical, said police.
