Dilapidated buildings risk life of far-West security personnel

BAJURA: The old and dilapidated buildings of District Police Offices in the Far-Western Region have increased insecurity among the police staff, of late.

The buildings of District Police Offices of Bajura, Baitadi, Darchula, Bhajhang, and Doti and among others in the region are in dilapidated conditions.

According to DIG Madhav Prasad Nepal, head of Far-Western Regional Police Office, the old and dilapidated buildings had given a negative impression of police on the people. People question how those people can secure locals while they themselves are insecure, according to the official.

The condition of security personnel is not only insecure, but the inmates in jails in the region are also suffering.

Due to lack of separate buildings and rooms, they are forced to put the female inmates in female staff rooms, informed Bajura District Police Office DSP Shyam Prasad Paudel.

Likewise, the Baitadi District Police Office is working from the building in which the rainwater leaks through the roof during the monsoon. They use plastic to continue their works.

Political leaders in the district had already drawn the attention of the concerned ones, but in vain.
