Don’t burden peasants with tax: Minister Yadav

Siraha, September 5

Province 2 State Minister for Land Management and Agriculture Yogendra Yadav today said that projects allocated by the government to farmers had failed to reach genuine farmers.

Inaugurating the Second Agriculture Group Federation at Gol Bazaar, Siraha, State Minister Yadav stressed the need to create conducive environment so that projects allocated to farmers reach the real peasants. “Lack of right utilisation of argo projects has hindered the development of agriculture”, he added.

Yadav said that the province government had accorded priority to the construction of cold store, agriculture electrification and farming in all eight districts in the province.

Minister Yadav urged the local levels not to collect tax arbitrarily until the tax provisions were clearly laid out. “The collection of tax by the local, provincial and federal governments on the same product will hit farmers very hard,” Yadav said.
