Drinking water project worth Rs 10 million completed in Chitwan

RATNANAGAR, CHITWAN: A drinking water project has been constructed at the cost of Rs 10 million at Gadhuwa of Kalika Municipality in eastern Chitwan.

The project has been completed with the financial and technical assistance from the Pokhara-based Gorkha Welfare Trust, bringing cheers among the locals. The Trust had financially and technically supported the project under its Drinking Water and Sanitation Programme.

The ownership of the project which took nine months to complete was handed over to the community on Thursday, as stated by Gadhuwa Drinking Water and Sanitation Consumers' Committee secretary Chet Kumar Sunar.

The project based on a deep water boring system has an overhead reserve tank with the capacity of storing 30 cubic metres of water. A total of 158 houses will benefit from the project at present. Locals also contributed Rs 1.5 million for project construction, as stated by committee chair Leela Bahadur KC.

Likewise, drinking water projects at Lankaline and Suryapurm, parts of the Municipality, are to be constructed in near future.
