Driver dies as two trucks collide in Chitwan

CHITWAN:   A truck driver was crushed to death and six others were injured when two trucks collided head-on along the Prithivi Highway in Phishling, Ichhya Kamana Rural Municipality of Chitwan district on Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Keshav Prasad Subedi (48) of Pida, Dhading who was driving the truck (Ba 2 Kha 1958), according to the District Police Office (DPO).

The incident occurred when Subedi's truck, en route to Kathmandu from Mugling, collided with another truck (Na 5 Kha 9190) coming from the opposite direction at around 6:30 am today, informed the Mugling Area Police Office.

Driver of the another truck Niroj Pariyar (22), along with Bibek Koirala (20), Ram Pariyar (19), Dipendra Pariyar (18), Dinesh Pariyar (20), all hailing from Dhading, and Suresh Pariyar (18) of Gorkha, were injured in the incident, said Assistant Sub Inspector Kabiraj Ale of the Chitwan DPO.

All the injured were aboard on the same truck, Ale added.

The injured have been sent to Dhading for treatment.

Transportation along the highway is moving on a single lane following the fatal collision.
