Eliminate arrears, says Chief Minister Poudel

Hetauda, December 13

Province 3 Chief Minister Dormani Poudel has stressed the need to check increasing arrears year on year.

Speaking at an audit-related programme organised by the Office of the Auditor General in Hetauda today, Poudel described the steadily increasing volume of arrears as financial irregularities. “Every year the arrear is increasing, which is not a good thing. The OAG must do something to discourage this trend,” he said.

Noting his government’s aim to create a clean transparent government without corruption at the province level, Poudel spoke of the need to make auditory procedures transparent and more than a mere ritual. “Audit shouldn’t be just a ritual but something effective that is capable of discouraging malpractice,” he said.

Internal Affairs and Law Minister Shalikram Jamkattel, sought some policy-related changes to prevent leakage of budget.
