NA's bomb disposal squad defuses IED found in Kamala River in Siraha

LAHAN: A bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army (NA) defused a socket bomb found in Karjanha Municipality-3 of Siraha district today.

According to Uma Prasad Chaturbedi, Superintendent of Police (SP) at Siraha District Police Office, NA's Sher Battalion based in Choharwa disposed the bomb found on Kamala River bed.

The improvised explosive device (IED) was found by labourers who worked with sand and gravels at the riverbank near Khaira Tole. The workers immediately informed Bandipur-based police post about the suspicious object, at around 8: 30 am.

The old and rusty bomb found at the site might have been carried by the river rather than someone intentionally placing it at the riverbank, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Ajit Kumar Pandey at the police post.

The bomb was successfully detonated by the bomb squad team of Sher Batallion under the command of Captain Shri Krishna Adhikari.

Meanwhile, further investigation into the case is underway, said SI Pandey.
