Feasibility study on water project concludes

Panchthar, October 6

Feasibility study has been conducted to launch a project to supply drinking water through deep boring system in dry areas, including Phidim Municipality, in Panchthar.

Locals of seven different places in the district listed as dry areas would be benefited from the project. The Province 1 government recently carried out the feasibility study at Jarudevi, Golai, Salleri and Phemeswa of Phidim Municipality; Kafalpani, Debal and Thapagaun of Kumyak Rural Municipality; and Surkenagi of Phalgunanda Rural Municipality. A technical team, including geohydrologist Bikash Pradhan of Pathibhara Boring and Consultant, had reached all these places and carried out the feasibility study.

The team, after the feasibility study, submitted a report with suggestions to the government. The study found water below 403 to 2,100 metres from ground.

Minister of Finance  and Planning Indra Angbo said the government had opted deep boring technology considering the increasing number people migrating from the dry places in the district. “The project will start from the current fiscal,” he informed.
