First tiger festival kicks off in Kanchanpur

BHIMDUTTANAGAR: The 'First Tiger Festival-2073 BS' has kicked off in Dodhara-Chandani Municipality of Kanchanpur district on Tuesday.

The festival has the slogan 'Save Tigers; Prevent Wildlife Poaching.'

Chief Conservation Officer at Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve, Bed Kumar Dhakal inaugurated the festival organised by the Sagarmatha Buffer Zone Users Committee to create public awareness on tiger conservation.

The three-day festival would help sensitise people at local level to save tigers and check poaching and smuggling of wildlife.

The festival would also feature various cultural performances. The activism on part of various buffer zone users committee under the Shuklaphanta Reserve, which is popular as tiger populated area of the country has significantly contributed to the wildlife conservation.
