Bajura, July 10

Five children of Budhiganga Municipality, Bajura, were rescued from a poorly-run children’s home in Kailali.

Women and Children Office, Kailali, rescued the children from Lamkichuha Municipality-based Om Badimalika Sanatan Dharma, a non-governmental organisation. The rescued children have been identified as Rupesh Thapa, 12, Sahil Thapa, 9, Samir Ukheda, 12, Amit Thapa, 8, and Roshna Thapa, 13, of Budhiganga Municipality, Bajura.

The children were handed over to District Child Welfare Committee after the rescue. Later they were handed over to their parents, according to Bindu Kumari Badal, assistant women development supervisor at Women and Children Office, Bajura.

The operators of the orphanage had taken the children promising to provide them education. “As the children were found in a sorry state during monitoring, they were rescued and handed over to their guardians,” said Sher Singh Khadka, a member of Child Welfare Committee, Kailali. According to him, the operators of the orphanage had taken the children without consent from the authority concerned.
