Five women rescued

As many as five women were rescued while they were being trafficked to India from two border points in Jhapa and Ilam yesterday.

Two women were rescued from Jhapa’s Bhadrapur border point while they were being trafficked to India’s New Delhi. Personnel from Nepal Police, APF and India’s Seema Surakshya Bal rescued them from the border.

Ward Police Office Bhadrapur said that two persons were arrested for trying to take the women to India. The rescued women are Ranamaya Damai, 22, and Sabina Gole, 22.

Sub-inspector Hasta Bahadur Shrestha said both the women were married. Damai has one son and one daughter while his wife runs tractor in Jhapa. “Preparation is on to send the rescued women to District Police Office, Jhapa,” addde SI Shrestha.

Meanwhile, three women were rescued from Jhapa’s Lasuna border point in Ilam while they were being trafficked to India. Those rescued are Nichha Rai, 18, Kamala Rai, 35 and Srijana Rai, 32. APF Inspector Harit Baduwal said Makthar Alam of India’s Bihar was arrested for trying to take the women to India. Police have recovered two sets of citizenship from the rescued women. All three were being taken to India’s New Delhi.
