Flood survivors worried about shelter in Pokhara

POKHARA: The flood survivors of Machhapuchchhre Rural Municipality in Kaski district are worried more about shelter than the food.

As many as 13 families were displaced after the flooded Humdi rivulet inundated and damaged properties in the village on August 8.

The survivors have been taking shelter at relative's homes.

Jum Bahadur Gurung, ward chairman said, "Although they have not faced problems for food and clothes. They are worried more how they could build houses for shelter."

The financial aid provided by donors has been deposited in a separate relief fund.

The financial assistance would be spent in house construction after finalising a safer place, added Gurung.

The flood destroyed property worth around Rs 100 million in the area.
