Kathmandu, October 14

A doctor involved in treatment of a patient at Shripur Primary Health Centre in Kanchanpur was beaten up by former member of the Parliament Diwan Singh today.

Dr Amit Pandit, who was treating a patient at Sripur PHC was beaten up by the former MP on the premises of the health centre.  Blaming the doctor for referring patients of the health centre to another hospital, former MP Singh attacked the doctor.

According to Dr Amit, MP Singh used abusive language before attacking him. Following the incident the doctor has left the district for Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, Nepal Medical Association and Government Doctor’s Association of Nepal issued a press statement today demanding punishment for Singh.

A press statement of the Government Doctor’s Association of Nepal said the brutal attack on Dr Amit Pandit has drawn serious attention of GODAN.
