Jhapa, January 7

Jhapa police today held at least four cadres of the Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist, including the party’s district secretary, on the charge of being involved in torching Sakambari Product (a gutkha factory) at Pragatitole, Duwagadhi-9 of the district on December 21.

According to District Police Office SP Thakur Prasad Gyawali, the accused have been identified as district secretary Bibash Kirati, district members Chaman Lal Majhi and Pushpa Adhikari and student leader Nabin Adhikari.

They were arrested from various parts of the district.

However, district leader of the party Suman Singh Poudel, said that they were arrested from the house belonging to district secretariat member Laxmi Yakhkha.

All the accused have been kept at District Police Office.
