Four more cops suspended
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday suspended four more police officers for not investigating the rape and murder of Nirmala Panta responsibly.
The suspended cops are DSPs Gyan Bahadur Sethi and Angur GC, Inspector Ekendra Khadka and Assistant Sub-inspector Ramsingh Dhami.
DSP Sethi, Inspector Khadka and the ASI had been assigned to probe the rape and murder under a panel led by then Kanchanpur district police chief SP Dilliraj Bista, who was suspended two weeks ago, while DSP GC had led a team of Central Investigation Bureau.
MoHA Spokesperson Ram Krishna Subedi said the four police officers were suspended on the basis of a preliminary report submitted by a high-level investigation committee to Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa on Saturday.
The high-level committee is headed by joint secretary Hari Prasad Mainali.
