Gandaki transport officials caught red-handed with bribe

POKHARA: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Western Regional Office, Pokhara on Tuesday caught two officials of the Transportation Management Office, Gandaki red-handed while taking bribe.

The suspects have been identified as Account Officer Govinda Prasad Baral and Accountant Narayan Hari Sharma.

The anti-graft body said that they were caught red-handed while taking Rs 10,000 from  Tek Bahadur Baruwal, a service seeker.

The suspects were arrested based on information provided by Baruwal, DSP Shyam Bahadur Rai informed.

Though he had paid the annual tax of his car (Ba 2 Cha 8558), they did not issue his blue-book  saying that it had been misplaced, he informed.

Initially they had asked Rs 20,000 from Baruwal for the blue-book, later they agreed to give him for Rs 10,000.

The duo, however, denied the allegation and said that its was a premeditated plan to tarnish their names.

Both the accused have been taken to the CIAA office for investigation.

Earlier, the Commission had arrested officials of the Land Revenue Office and Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City Office with the bribe money.
