BIRGUNJ: As many as three cooking gas bullets and a diesel tanker entered Nepal via the Birgunj-Raxaul border on Saturday, for the first time in past four and half months.

The gas bullets were loaded three and half months ago and were stranded due to the obstructions at the border, Birgunj Customs Office spokesperson Sushil Sharma said.

The movement, however, was possible today after the barriers and tents set by the protesters were removed by locals including traders on Friday, which effectively ended the months-long blockade.

The official also added that various containers and goods-laden trucks have been entering Nepal uninterrupted since this morning.

Tension, however, had run high in the city for some hours as some cadres of the United Democratic Madhesi Front had clashed with Indian nationals this afternoon.

Meanwhile, some fuel tankers left Birgunj for the Indian Oil Corporation Raxaul depot for refilling, the Nepal Oil Corporation Birgunj Office informed.
