Germans extend help to develop infrastructure

Chitwan, April 19

As many as 20 German nationals in coordination with Lions Club International have financially contributed for the infrastructure development of a private school in Sauraha of Ratnanagar Municipality, Chitwan.

The Germans extended financial support worth Rs 19.3 million for infrastructure development of Mount View English School, which is being operated by Green Society Nepal. It is said the school will invest the contribution on education for poor and intelligent students in public schools, according to Sher Bahadur Pariyar, vice-chairperson of the society.

Inaugurating the new structure of the school today, Ratnanagar Municipality Mayor Narayan Ban praised the role of the school in overall development of education in the district.

On the occasion, German Karra Gernot urged the students to study sincerely. He also stressed that students must be self-motivated and should feel that they were studying for themselves.

The school, which runs classes up to Grade VIII at present, has a total of 240 students. “We are planning to upgrade the school to Grade IX next year and trying to emerge as a model school in five years,” said school Head Teacher Gopi Kumari Rijal (Khanal).

Former district governor of Lions Club International 325 A 2 Nepal, Shambhu Prasad Ghimire, Nepal Tourism Board member Deepak Mahat, Green Society Nepal Chairperson Giridhari Chaudhary, among others, spoke at the programme. Green Society Nepal has been extending its services to the social sector, including eye treatment centre, libraries and others.
