Ghodaghodi Mayor assailants made public

DHANGADHI: Four CPN Maoist (Chand) cadres held for allegedly assaulting Mayor of Ghodaghodi Municipality in Kailali district, have been made public by the police today.

Likewise, the police also made public six other people who were taken in custody for physically abusing a girl, accusing her of practicing ‘witchery’.

Netra Bikram Chand led CPN Maoist cadres Kamal Chhetri (40) of Ghodaghodi-1, Bharat Shah (36) of Ghodaghodi-9, Purna Prasad Khanal of Dhangadhi-8, and Hridaya Raj Bogati of Tikapur-1, accused of attacking Mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary on March 12, were made public.

According to Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire, of Nepal Police, nine of the 13 accused for involvement in the assault are still absconding.

Likewise, those held for torturing Radha Chaudhary are the main accused, self-proclaimed ‘Bhole Baba’ Ram Bahadur Chaudhary, his main aide 18-year-old Kismati Chaudhary, 24-year-old Smarika Chaudhary, 34-year-old Bed Prasad Chaudhary, 33-year-old Chanakala Chaudhary and 41-year-old Sita Rani Chaudhary. All the six accused have admitted to the offence.

The police have extended remand for both the cases and are conducting further investigations, said SP Ghimire.
