GoDAN, KUPA extend solidarity to Dr Govinda KC

KATHMANDU: The Government Doctors' Association of Nepal in the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital and the Kathmandu University Professors Association on Wednesday have shown their solidarity to the agitating Dr Govinda KC.

Issuing a press statement, GoDAN and KUPA have urged the government to address the demands of Dr KC and end his hunger strike as soon as possible.

GoDAN has even served a 24-hour ultimatum to the government. If not, the organisation has warned to stop all the government health services.

Dr KC has been staging a fast-unto-death at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for past 18 days, putting forth demands to sack Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor Tirtha Khaniya and TU Institute of Medicine Dean Keshab Prasad Singh.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that the striking doctor’s health is deteriorating. His heartbeat is reportedly fluctuating and his immunity level is also decreasing.

The talks held between the government team and a team representing agitating senior orthopaedic surgeon have failed four times.
