Good governance, stability and development are challenging: Dahal

HETAUDA: CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has opined that maintenance of good governance, stability and development are challenging and that with the formation of central, provincial and local governments, the new government will now focus on these issues.

Addressing a press meet organised by Press Centre Makwanpur Chapter, on Wednesday in Hetauda, Dahal said that in the coming days the government is intent on giving pace to the journey of development and prosperity in the nation.

Dahal, who had arrived in Hetauda after laying the foundation stone for the Postal Highway in Siraha district, said, "the avenue of socialism will be determined by how we are able to stride in the path of development and prosperity."

He shared that understanding will be maintained between the ruling coalition and the opposition in national matters. He further expressed faith that the political development of the country would move ahead with ease as the Madhes-based parties have also given their vote of confidence to the incumbent government.

Dahal said, "The government already holds nearly two-thirds majority; with the backing of the Madhes-based parties, it is now clear that there are no hurdles in development picking up pace."

Despite there being some problems in running the provincial governments at present, Dahal said that development will move ahead with the formation of legal provisions. He further stressed that now the public are seeking results from the government and looking forward to see their commitment turn into action.

"We have reached this point with the public's trust in us. The time has come for us to reinforce that faith through our works."

He also added that the unification process between CPN-UML and CPN MC of the left alliance is moving ahead smoothly, and the parties will unify as soon as the party unification coordination committee submits its report.

Likewise, on a different note, he added that the provincial headquarters of Province 3 will remain in Hetauda. He said that it is wrong to speculate that the headquarters will be shifted elsewhere, and that the official decision in this regard will be taken by the state assembly. He requested all to not pay heed to such rumours.

Present at the programme were Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Shalikram Jamarkattel, National Assembly member Ram Nayaran Bidari, Provincial Assembly member Prem Bahadur Pulami, among others.
