Govt has failed to meet people’s expectation: NC leader Shrestha

Pokhara, November 18

Nepali Congress central member Gopalman Shrestha today said the KP Sharma Oli-led government had failed to meet people’s expectation.

Inaugurating a workshop on Gandaki province-level suggestion collection on the party’s political draft proposal, Shrestha said that the incumbent government’s failure to curb corruption and imposition of  heavy tax had irked the people.

He said people were seeking an alternative to the incumbent government. “Thus, Nepali Congress has to work to win the hearts and minds of people. Nepali Congress has to emerge as the single largest party in the next general polls,” Shrestha stated.

Shrestha accused the government of trying to impose one-party communist rule in the country. He urged the Nepali Congress rank and file to fight against communism. “The Nepali Congress has to support good deeds of the government and protest wrongdoing,” he added.

Shrestha attributed factionalism and intra-party dispute for the party’s defeat in the last polls. He urged the party leadership to end factionalism and strengthen the party.

Shrestha stressed the need for the NC to formulate political and economic policy and move ahead according to the people’s mandate.
