Govt weakness blamed for failure to book culprits

Pokhara, October 15

Gandaki Province Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Ram Sharan Basnet today said that weakness on the part of the central as well as provincial governments had enabled those guilty of Nirmala Panta’s rape and murder to go scot-free.

Addressing a programme organised by Kaski District Administration Office in Pokhara, Minister Basnet demanded the immediate arrest of those involved in Nirmala Panta’s rape and murder. “The government failed to trace the killers of communist leaders Madan Bhandari and Jibraj  Ashrit because it did not take strong and quick action. The government had to act tough against culprits if it wants to curb crime.”

Basnet expressed worry over the increasing incidents of murder, violence and rape across the country. “Criminal activities will escalate if we fail to curb crime,” he stated.

Kaski CDO Chakra Bahadur Budha sought public support to control violence, murder and all types of crime.
