Grandfather and aunt behind child’s murder, police probe reveals

Police investigation has revealed that six-year-old Aayog Sah of Bahurdarmai Municipality, Parsa, was murdered by his own grandfather and elder aunt. The minor was found dead in a local pond on July 15.

Security personnel held the aunt Rita Devi Sah and grandfather Tara Chandra Sah on July 20 and July 24 respectively from their houses.

District Court Parsa had ordered that the murder accused be remanded to custody on August 15, as per District Police Office Parsa.

According to DPO Parsa Chief Superintendent of Police Rewati Dhakal, they murdered the boy to veil their illicit relationship and also to secure ownership of property. As per the investigation, the child had witnessed the illicit relationship between them.

Murder accused Rita Devi is the elder sister of Aayog’s mother.

Aayog was found dead in a pond 300 metres away from his house on July 15. He had left the house after having brunch. On his way, he had seen his grandfather and aunt in a compromising position in a bamboo grove near the pond. Immediately after the incident, the duo strangled Aayog and threw his body into the pond.
