TULSIPUR: The body of Chandra Bahadur Dangi, a Guinness World Record holder for being the world's shortest man, who died in Pago Pago, the territorial capital of American Samoa on September 3 while undergoing treatment, has yet to be brought to home due to financial crunch, the family members said.

The family members, however, said that one Yogendra Chhetri living in the United States (US) told them over the phone that initiations are on to send back the body to Nepal soon.

Dangi's nephew Dolakh, who accompanied Dangi during his trip to the US to participate in a circus, is still staying in the US. He informed some days ago on a social networking site that consultations were being held with the American circus company, with which Dangi worked before he died, to manage money to send the body home.

It has been said that long distance and refusal of passenger-carrying planes to ferry the body involve some of the difficulties.

Dangi, a permanent resident of Dang district, was 75.

He breathed his last at Lyondan B Johnson Tropical Medical Center in Pago Pago, the territorial capital of American Samoa while receiving treatment.

He was suffering from pneumonia.

Dangi set a record in Guinness World Records as world's shortest man with a height of 54.6 cm.
