HoR dissolution anti-national, says NC leader Paudel

CHITWAN, JANUARY 16

Senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Paudel today said that dissolution of the House of Representatives was a step against the nation and nationality.

Addressing a mass meeting organised by Nepali Congress Bharatpur Metropolitan Committee in Bharatpur, Paudel said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli should rectify his erroneous move of dissolving the Parliament.

“The anti-national step of dissolving the Parliament has to be corrected. The House of Representatives has to be reinstated. He charged that Oli had dissolved the Parliament at the behest of some others. He claimed that parliamentary polls could not be held on the scheduled dates set by the incumbent government. “Even if the House of Representatives is reinstated, Nepali Congress will have a decisive role in making the future government,” he added.

Paudel claimed that the Parliament would be reinstated if the court took the decision as per the provisions in the constitution. “The constitution clearly states that the prime minister cannot dissolve the Parliament,”

Paudel added. He accused Oli of trying to become an autocrat.

He clarified that he had appealed to the judiciary to look into the statute and offer the verdict accordingly.

Paudel said that they were forced to take to the streets after Prime Minister Oli threatened the Supreme Court.

“Nepali Congress will not stay silent when democracy is being raped,” said Paudel.

He made it clear that his party would go to the polls only after House of Representatives was reinstated.
