Impeachment motion doesn't want to topple govt: Gyawali

BANEPA: The CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said the impeachment motion against the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority chief, Lok Man Singh Karki, was not put forth in order to topple the incumbent government.

Addressing a programme in Banepa in Kavrepalanchok district on Thursday, Gyawali also expressed his belief that the Nepali Congress would decide about the impeachment issue at the right time.

Accusing that the CIAA chief Karki had tried to challenge the country's democracy, Gyawali further said that even development activities had been affected by unnecessary pressure exerted by the Karki-led anti-graft team.

The CPN-UML leader even suspected that there was being a conspiracy to make the Constitution a failure.

In the programme, Secretary Gyawali warned that the country would be pushed into a state of anarchy if elections were not held by January 2018.
