India for addressing all parties’ concerns: Deuba

KATHMANDU, August 3

Senior Nepali Congress leader Sher Bahadur Deuba on Monday said Indian leaders suggested that the new statute should accommodate all political forces.

Talking to reporters at Tribhuvan International Airport upon arrival from a five-day India visit, Deuba said, “My India visit was satisfactory. The Indian leaders have hoped that the new constitution will accommodate all sides.”

Deuba said the parties should go for delivering a new constitution by incorporating something more on the 16-point deal reached among the four parties on June 8.

“The Indian leaders were cordial towards our country, but they did not suggest anything in particular on the content of the new constitution,” he said. Deuba added that he talked to the Indian leaders about Nepal’s reconstruction in the aftermath of the April 25 earthquake and gave the message that Nepal was a secure destination for investment and tourism.

He had gone to Delhi at the invitation of the Indian government five days ago.

During his stay, he met Indian President Pranab Mukherjeee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party Bhagat Singh Koshyari, including others.

Deuba said that the NC’s General Convention scheduled to be held from 19-22 September would not be postponed and that the party’s recent rescheduling of village and municipality-level conventions would not affect it.
