Indian national held with 2 kg undeclared gold

CHITWAN: One person has been arrested in possession of two kilograms and 76 grams of undeclared gold, four-kilogram silver and Rs 1.2 million in cash from Narayangadh Bazaar in Chitwan district today, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint police team from the District Police Office, Chitwan, and Province 3 arrested an Indian national, Rajendra Shivaji Patel, along with the yellow metal and cash.

Superintendent of Police (SP) at the DPO, Sushil Singh Rathore said, "Police raided New Ganesh Jewellery Shop at Putali Bazaar in Narayangadh and arrested its owner Patel."

The news came to fore at a time when the jewellery entrepreneurs are protesting against the Nepal Rastra Bank for supplying inadequate gold in the market.

Meanwhile, police said the investigation is underway.
