Indian PM Modi's best wishes for Nepal local elections

KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday reportedly told his Nepali counterpart Pushpa Kamal Dahal that India was willing to provide support to Nepal to hold the local level elections.

According to Dahal's secretariat, Modi had called up Dahal at 4 pm to express his best wishes for the local level elections.

On the occasion, the Indian prime minister reportedly admired the negotiations with the Madhesi parties, saying it was Dahal's success in bringing in all the political forces for the elections.

In response, the PM's Secretariat said, Dahal thanked the Indian prime minister for his wishes and maintained Nepal would hold the scheduled elections in order to implement the new constitution.
