Indian youth killed in Birgunj police retaliation

PARSA: An unidentified youth died from a bullet shot by a police team on duty in Birgunj on Sunday.

A team of police deployed from the Parsa District Police Office had reached a secluded alley in Siromani Tole during their patrol launched for the Dashain festival.

According to Superintendent of Police Raju Babu Shrestha of the DPO, the police personnel had stopped two people on a motorcycle with an Indian registration number. When they asked questions, the men started firing at the police. Police, in retaliation, also fired at them and the youth died.

Police have assumed that the youth is Indian. According to preliminary reports, the youth has been said to be Dishad Alam of Raxaul in Bihar. But his identity is yet to be verified, police added.

Police also said that the deceased is one of the suspects involved in the kidnapping of Suresh Kedia, a businessman of Birgunj.

They are searching for the motorcyclist, who had fled the scene with the vehicle.

They have seized a home-made pistol and four bullets from the incident site.
