International conference kicks off in Pokhara

Pokhara, February 26

A three-day International Conference started in Pokhara from today. The conference was organised by Pokhara University School of Business.

PU Vice-chancellor Professor Chiranjibi Prasad Sharma inaugurated the conference. Sharma expressed confidence that the programme, which focused on society, business and good governance would help lead the country towards economic development.

Speaking at the programme, Professor Katsuhiko Hirasawa of Japan-based Nihon University said respect for seniors, life-long employment and wide labour union were the salient features of Japan. He added that these factors played a key role in promoting business and internal promotions, among others, in his country.

Registrar Govinda Prasad Sharma of PU said businesses that can make significant impact on national economy were the need of the hour. “However, investment is impossible in the absence of good governance,” he added.

Holding a brief discussion after the inauguration programme, professors at the programme said businesses with social responsibilities could help in the country’s development.
