JAJARKOT: An infant succumbed to burn injuries in Sakla, Barekot Rural Municipality-8 of Jajarkot district on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as 7-month-old Basant BK, son of local Jaya Bahadur BK.

Basant breathed his last on the way to a health facility yesterday.

The child was burnt by a fire ignited to cook food while his mother had gone to collect grass by leaving him alone by the fire. Meanwhile, he had rolled into the fire and got burn injuries.

His father is in India for employment. The incident occurred as there was no one to take care of the child in absence of the parents, said Jaya Bahadur's elder brother Hridaya Man BK.
