Jaleshwor mayor, RJP-N gen secy surrender

Jaleshwor Municipality Mayor Ramshankar Mishra and Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal General Secretary Suresh Pandey, accused in the murder of Armed Police Force Assistant Sub-inspector Thaman BK during the Madhes agitation in 2015, surrendered before Mahottari District Court today.

The single bench of district judge Brajesh Pyakurel recorded Mishra and Pandey’s statements and ordered the local administration to release them without bail today. According to court staffer Rama Nanda Adhikari, Mishra and Pandey were freed on the general date after no evidence of their involvement in the murder was found. They have been ordered to be present in the court on August 20.

Acting on the first information report registered by BK’s wife, the district court had ordered the police to present the defendants before the court and issue a 70-day warrant to arrest fugitives on March 10, 2016.

Province 2 State Minister for Social Development Abhiram Sharma, Ramesh Prasad Sah, Satishnanda Chaudhary, Raja Chaudhary, Naresh Sah, Ramraja Sah, Hariom Kumar Bhagat, Bikki Sah, Chandeswor Sah, Golu Sah, Rabindraram Chamar, Ranjit Sah, Devendra Chaudhary, Pawan Kapadi, Anil Thakur, Fule Yadav, Rohik Kumar Sharma, Lalbabu Bin, Shambhu Sah, Devendra Yadav, Laxmi Mahato, Dharmendra Ray, Surendra Pandey have been accused of lynching ASI  BK. State Minister Sharma had turned himself in at the Mahottari district court and was released without bail yesterday itself.

The defendants have been accused of pulling injured BK out of an ambulance and killing him on September 11, 2015.
