Jamunaha border point to be closed during polls

NEPALGUNJ: A joint meeting of Nepali and Indian security officials in Nepaljung on Friday decided to close the Jamunaha border point in Banke during the local level polls.

According to Banke Chief District Officer Rabi Lal Pantha, the border point will be closed for 48 hours to control the untoward incidents during local level elections slated for June 14.

To control the criminal activities in the border, security forces of two countries decided to collaborate, informed Pantha, adding that the meeting also decided to combat drug trafficking and carry out joint patrolling on the border.

The meeting was organised by Banke District Administration Office.

CDO Pantha, CDO of Bardiya Bishnu Thapa, CDO of Dang Megh Nath Kafle, Police Chief of Banke Tek Prasad Rai, DM of Baharaich in India Ajaya Deep Singh, DM of Shrawasti District Deepak Minal including senior security officials of the countries were present in the meeting.
