Janakpur tense, indefinite prohibitory order issued

JANAKPURDHAM: The District Security Committee on Wednesday issued an indefinite prohibitory order in some areas of Janakpur after protesters resorted to the streets wielding lethal weapons.

The District Administration Office, Dhanusha informed that the indefinite prohibitory order has been issued from Murali Chowk to Kadam Chowk, from Uttimpur Kadam Chowk to Inland Revenue Office and from Samsanghat to the District Court in the district hedquarters.

Supporters of Madhesh-based parties have been staging demonstrations at various places in Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City since this morning. They have blocked the roads and burned tyres.

Clashes broke out between demonstrators and security personnel at Bhanu Chowk and Murali Chowk.

More than eight rounds of tear gas shells were lobbed to disperse the violent protesters that confronted with the security personnel, according to SP Ganesh Thapa.

No one was injured in the clash, he added.

Likewise, protesters have gathered at Sapahi and obstructed the road.

It has been learned that they torched two motorbikes in Sapahi.
